White Wedding Themes

You're organizing your wedding scrapbook and are going for a white wedding theme. Here are some ideas on colors, layouts and borders to get you started.

There can rarely be a scrapbook as special as a wedding scrapbook. A wedding itself holds so many special and touching moments that it would be a shame not to capture those feelings and emotions to share as a couple in the coming years, with your children as they grow and with generations to come. Who would not want to capture that moment when the father of the bride beamed with pride as he handed his daughter's hand to her new groom? Or how about that picture of the bride and groom when they stole a kiss secretly on the dance floor when they thought no one was looking? Keep your photos and mementos treasured in a white wedding theme scrapbook.

Before beginning any scrapbook, the key to success comes in the preparation. Gather and organize all of the wedding mementos and photos into groups. For example, if you are including pre-wedding events like the bachelorette party or the wedding shower, put those into two separate groups. Events that occur during the wedding like the cutting of the cake or the first dance should also be put into different groups. Because each part of a wedding is a special event in and of itself, you will probably want to devote one to two entire pages to each part.

For your white wedding theme, there are two schools of thought for the choice of album page color. Your wedding scrapbook, itself, will more than likely be white or one of your overall wedding “colors.” However, nowadays, the actual pages in a scrapbook album can come in a variety of colors including natural, white and black. You can, of course, pick white pages which would, for obvious reasons, complement the white wedding theme. Or, you can pick black pages which would accentuate the white wedding theme by providing a stark contrast between the page and the pictures, mementos and embellishments you choose to decorate it with. This is because you will be needing to use light colored stickers and borders and a silver or white ink pen to show against the black pages. If you decide to go with black pages, having a white wedding theme scrapbook may be as simple as having white borders on all of the pictures and white stickers or writing for titles, captions and journal entries.

When choosing a backdrop for some of your pages, why not use the textures of the wedding itself? For instance, on one page, why not get a small 12 x 12 piece of wedding veil material from the fabric store and use that as a background of a page? You can either lay it flat or scrunch it up at the corners for a textured border. The veil material is very lightweight so it will not add weight to your scrapbook. You can also do this same type of backdrop with other lightweight wedding fabrics like lace, satin or tulle. Or, if your wedding gown had lots of beads on it, you can buy some similar beads from a crafts store and use adhesive to glue them onto the scrapbook as either a large border for a page or borders for certain relevant pictures like you and your friends shopping for the wedding dress or you getting ready for the wedding.

Another great idea for fancy white wedding borders is to use white lace or white ribbon as a border. Cutting small slits the width of the ribbon or lace along the border edges, you can then weave the ribbon or lace through the slits to create a fancy, yet simple, border that will work for both sides of the page.
